Peaberry Espresso is a place where our customers will be able to enjoy a premium coffee served by staff truly dedicated to our product in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Together with our tasty menu, we will aim to achieve a high standard of service that will exceed the expectations of all our customers.

What is a Peaberry?

The Peaberry comes from the coffee tree; genus coffea rubaceae, the most harvested species being coffee Arabica and coffee Robusta.

The coffee tree produces fruit which grows into a red cherry. The fruit contains two seeds (the beans) although sometimes one seed develops at the heart of the coffee fruit.

The result is a round bean, the Peaberry. Technically it is a defect that occurs due to the vagaries of nature such as insect damage, tree stress from drought / nutrient imbalances, or from coffee cherries that grow at the top of branches.

Since the Peaberry is rare and only makes up a small percentage of the entire crop, it is sometimes referred to the caviar of coffee and is sold at a premium.

Peaberries seem to have a mystique about them on the basis that all the goodness of the coffee cherry is in only one bean instead of two halves.

It therefore provides more sharpness and life, hence Peaberry is a specialty coffee and a unique experience.

While our customers are guaranteed a full flavoured coffee with our signature Darlo Blend, Peaberry Espresso will also introduce a new Peaberry Coffee each month.

Sampling a variety of peaberry coffees through out the course of the year will be a chance for our customers to experience different tastes from around the world as no two coffees are the same. For the months November/December our customers will be able to sample Kenya Estate Peaberry (Ibonia Estate).

Darlo Blend

A blend of six different Arabica coffees roasted separately to produce an espresso full of flavour, rich body with a sweet caramel and smooth chocolate finish.
